Dr Gopa Chakrabarti has been performing on stage for decades! No stage has been too big or small for her. She has performed at regional events and also esteemed music festivals such as Saptak (Ahmedabad), Benaras Sangeet Sammelan (Benaras), Swar Sadhana Mandal (Delhi), Pt Omkar Nath Festival (Ahmedabad) and Malhar Festival (Jamnagar) among many others.

Dr Chakrabarti began her musical training at the age of five and in three short years was already performing on stage at the age of 8. During her school days, she initially performed at local venues for festivals such Vasant Panchami, Durga Puja, Diwali celebrations and at national holidays such as Independence Day, Republic Day etc.

 

As she grew older, Dr Chakrabarti participated in many competitions such as Pt Omkarnath competitions, youth festivals etc., and won several awards at these events.

Once she completed her musical training and also gained experience as a performer regionally, Dr Chakrabarti began performing all across India: from her home states of Jharkhand and West Bengal to Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Delhi. She also participated as the official representative of the state governments of Gujarat and Jharkhand respectively at national events.

She is a versatile performer, a well-known Bhajan and Ghazal gayak besides also being skilled at performing Bengali and Gujarati folk music, and other genres of light music.
